The Effects of Contact-educational Program Presented by People with Mental Illness on Anti-stigma

Abstract
This study was to examine the effect of contact experience on anti-stigma for people with mental illness. For this, students were sampled 104 and categorized into the experimental group that participated a 90-minute contract-educational program and the control group. To difference between the pre-test and post-test of two groups was analyzed using the ANCOVA for prejudice, discrimination and emotional reaction. The results of this study were as follows. The experimental group had a lower scores of post-test prejudice, discriminate behavior than control group. And emotional reaction were partially changed. The experimental group had a significant lower scores in the anger factor, but the pity factor proved to be not significantly different between the two groups. By the results, it necessary to provide diverse opportunities for contact between people with mental illness and the public. Also it is important to give people with mental illness an participatory opportunities as lecturer.
